Here is something I just HAD to share with people who visit this blog.

The credit for this find goes to Sven De Mey. Thank you Sven! And an even bigger thanks to Youtube for not pulling this video down!

Enough from me now, Enjoy!

Pulp Fiction

30 Jul 2008 In: Misc

I don’t think this movie needs any introduction or description. Everyone’s seen this movie. And if you’re one of the few who hasn’t, please go watch it now. Also, while you’re at it, please also watch Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, Fight Club, Kill Bill (Volumes 1 and 2) and American History X. ( I would add Batman - The Dark Knight to the list as well, but I’m going to give that a year to see if it’s still an awesome of a movie to me then, as it is now.)

I can’t recall the number of times I’ve seen this movie, however each time I watch this movie I go into a trance, into a state where everything around me is now awesome. Everything about this movie is awesome, right from the story to the direction, right up to the acting and action.

If someone told me that I had 3 hours to live and that I could ONLY watch a movie in those 3 hours, this movie would probably be it. Closely followed by any of the other moves I’ve listed above.

Anyway, I don’t know if you’ve ever seen Pulp Fiction in typography, but here are two cool clips that you shouldn’t miss.

I would have liked it even more if they had done it with the passage from Ezekiel 25:17

And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

Enjoy!

Canon EOS 400 D - 28-135mm

30 Jul 2008 In: Art

Right on! Right on!

So I now have a new toy to play around with and if you haven’t already guessed, it’s the Canon EOS 400D with a 28-135mm Macro lens.

Yep, I also have a nice grip attached at the bottom. (No, this is not a picture of MY camera)

I have my father to thank for this. Thanks Dad!

As a kid, I never really apprecaited photography.

My father is a very good photographer. National Geographic magazine and a few other magazines (including the Jet Airways in house magazine, some Photography magazines, etc..) have featured my dad’s photographs including some articles he’s written about wild life and photography.
However, as a kid I never truly appreciated this hobby/passion of his.

Of course, that could have to do with the fact that my father really wanted me to pick up his favourite hobby and so he used to push me to like it back when I was a kid and I couldn’t have cared less about photography.
Also, the waking up at 4 in the morning, in the frigid Himalayas, to go take photographs of some obscure random flower that did not want to be found combined with the hours that we had to wait just so the sun would be at the right spot, so that the light would be perfect for the photograph so as to do justice to the beauty of the flower.. etc etc. You get my drift.

As a kid, I didn’t really appreciate all this trouble just to take a ’silly’ photograph.

As it is with all things, time changes everything. I now appreciate the effort my father took to make a photograph look good. I’m even glad in a somewhat resentful way that he dragged me along for those photography sessions of his. If nothing else, I’ve at least learned that patience and endurance will pretty much get you what you desire.

Now to try out some nice cool things with my new camera: Light Graffiti, HDR photo manuplation, etc.. Here are a few examples…

I pulled these photographs from Abduzeedo, and none of them are mine. Full credit to their respective authors and props to them too.

Creativity hitting the Indian screens!

26 May 2008 In: Misc

Ok, that title is a little misleading.

We have some of the most creative minds at work in the Media industry here in India, however, very rarely does one ever get to see some of the better pieces of work thanks to internal politics in companies or the marketing teams trying to reach the masses and therefore opting for something extremely cheesy and void of any intelligence whatsoever.

However, the following ad was a complete treat. Of course there are some other funny Indian commercials too, but they’re rather rare.

This is a spoof on some of the recently made ‘Bollywood’ movies and of course, the famous Matrix scene. (Which in my opinion could have been bettered, still an A in my books).

Here’s another hilariously funny commercial for the Chennai Superkings an ‘ICL’ team.

For those of you who don’t understand the humour, please do a youtube search for the following terms and just watch a couple of videos.
‘Shahrukh Khan’, ‘South Indian Movies‘, ‘Sawaaria’, ‘Darde Disco‘.
(The ads in this post are a spoof while most of the videos you’ll see under those search terms will probably be seriously shot scenes!)

Cheers.
